Its box reads “寬永朝鮮人來朝卷”. “Kan'ei (寬永)” herein is the Japanese era spanning from 1624 to 1643. It is conjectured that among three Tongshinsa visits made during the era, the last visit in 1624 is described in this painting. The envoy visit’s purpose was to celebrate the Tokugawa shogunate’s shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu’s enthronement. Tongshinsa corps left Busan on September 28, 1624 and came back on March 13, the following year. \n In the painting, Jungsa, Busa, and Jongsagwan officials are moving in palanquins in formal suits. Taking note of those, this painting seemed to describe Tongshinsa’s march to the Edo castle to deliver royal documents. There is no Japanese escort. A Joseon commander leads the parade, followed by three officials and three chief translators in the last row. There is no working-level staffs such as Sangpansa(上判事) and Banjeonjik(盤纏直). Considering that almost 300 people marched from Osaka to Edo, this painting did not describe the entirety of the scene. Also, compared to the painting of Tongshinsa march in 1711, march arrangement and clothing are different, and most Joseon people are walking on passenger’s road. This corroborates that the Tongshinsa parade in the painting predates the 1682 Tongshinsa visit.\n 『寬永朝鮮人來朝卷』 is a valuable document that shows Tongshinsa in the 17th century. It was listed on the UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme register in 2017."@en , "일본인이 그린 통신사 행렬 그림으로, 권자본(卷子本)이다. ; dcterms:alternative "관영조선인래조권"@ko ; dcterms:date "[仁祖年間(1623-1649)]" ; dcterms:dateSubmitted "2020-11-30"^^xsd:date ; dcterms:issued "1649" ; dcterms:title "Gwanyeongjoseoninraejogwon"@en , "寬永朝鮮人來朝卷" , "관영조선인래조권"@ko ; schema:audience "PU" ; schema:category eadlcollection:NLK_Joseon_missions_to_Japan_Joseon_Tongsinsa , eadlcollection:KoreaCollection , eadlcollection:NLK_Painting_of_Parade ; schema:datePublished "2020-11-30"^^xsd:date ; owl:sameAs ; foaf:thumbnail .
