She married 14-year old scholar Yun, Gwang-Yeon at the age of 20. Kang and Yun both were from noble families yet they were financially struggling. Kang was the main breadwinner with needlework and other available means. \n Kang studied thanks to her husband’s support. Even though they lived under the same roof, she wrote letters, informing her progress in study and asked questions. She even sent letters to her husband’s teachers and friends instead of him to receive help with what she wants to figure out. When literati of that time were invited to her home and a lecture is to be provided, she asked her husband to record what was discussed and books mentioned in the lecture so that she can refer to them later.
