Nishiki-e (multi-colored woodblock print) inspired by Waka (poetry) of poet Fujiwara no Teika (1162-1241) ‘Stop the horse and dust off sleeves. Snowing sunset at Pier Sano with no silhouette.’ Teika in this artwork is described as a young woman with a touch of fashion of that time. Paintings that parodies characters in ancient tales or classics by creating contemporary parallels of that time are categorized as mitate-e. This work is illustrated calendar named as daishōreki (calendar showing long months). Suzuki Harunobu (1725-1770) is a pioneer in the early days of Nishiki-e.(en)

錦絵。藤原定家(1162-1241)の和歌「駒とめて袖打払ふかげもなし佐野のわたりの雪の夕暮」をテーマに描かれたもので、定家の姿を当世風の若い女性に見立てて描いている。このように古画・古典などをもとに人物を当世風にアレンジした絵は「見立絵」と称される。また、この絵は大小暦といわれる絵暦でもある。鈴木春信(1725-1770)は、錦絵草創期の第一人者。(ja)
