Old print edition. One of Keichō Emperor’s rescripts published by Emperor Go-Yōzei during the Keichō period. Large yet elegant letters are impressive. Woodblocks are thought to be used based on its print sides. 『The Classic of Filial Piety』had been lost long ago in China, while after its introduction to Japan during the Nara period, it won respect as a book of ethics and virtue. Old printed edition of 『The Classic of Filial Piety』had been allegedly produced with printing press which came in later from Josun by the order of Emperor Go-Yōzei in autumn, Bunroku 2 (1593), before creation of this collection, yet the copies have not been recovered yet.(en)

古活字版。慶長年間に後陽成天皇が出版させた慶長勅版の一つ。風格のある大型の文字が印象的である。活字は印刷面から木活字であろうと推定されている。『古文孝経』は中国では早くに亡失したが、わが国には奈良時代にもたらされ、倫理道徳の書として尊重された。古活字版『古文孝経』は本書に先だち文禄２年(1593)秋、後陽成天皇の命により朝鮮将来の活字印刷機で印刷されたといわれるが、その版本は確認されていない。(ja)
