Abstract

  • This collection of writings by scholar Jo Geung-seop (曺兢燮, 1873-1933, penname Amseo) of late Joseon includes a poem portraying Nongwoljeong Pavilion (弄月亭). Nongwoljeong is a jeongja built by Bak Myeong-bu (朴明傅, 1571-1639), a provincial governor in King Seonjo’s reign, after retiring from his political life. Nongwoljeong, located in Hamyang in Gyeongsangnam-do, is one of the jeongja in a valley in Hwarim-dong and its name means “teasing the moon.” As its name suggests, it is an ideal location to enjoy the moon and the arts amidst a refreshing breeze while the moonlight flows down onto the water at night.(en)
