She is the wife of King Jangjo (Crown Prince Sado) and the mother of King Jeongju. She died as a crown consort yet promoted to Queen Heongyeong. \n She married to Crown Prince Sado at age 10, and suffered a chilling execution of her husband who was confined in a rice chest and died of starvation by his father. By a turn of luck, her son Jeongjo became a king in 1776. Yet, after a short moment of happiness, Jeongju, right after taking reign, promoted his mother’s title to Lady Hyegyong, and his deceased father, Jangheon, and started asking government officials who are responsible for his father’s death. Hong’s uncle Hong, In-Han and her father Hong, Bong-Han were executed as a consequence. Hong pleaded her family’s innocence, including her father’s by recording what she experienced by Sado’s death. Lady Hyegyon, who started her life in Joseon palaces at age 10 and experienced bitter adversities, chose to “record” instead of taking a backseat and growing old. This gave birth to Hanjungrok, the Memoirs of Lady Hyegyeong, and by doing so, she turned her life story into a history. \n Hanjungrok has 4 chapters: first chapter on self-recorded reflection of her life at the age of 60 in 1795 (Jeongjo 10), and the other three chapters on political document to claim her family’s innocence written between 1801(Sunjo 1) and 1805. She finished this work at the age of 71. The work was popular reading choice of that time, as shown by almost 20 versions of transcribed copies. Tearful Memoires of Lady Hyegyong is one of Hanjungrok's transcriptions."@en ; dcterms:alternative "혜경궁읍혈록"@ko ; dcterms:date "[刊寫年未詳]" ; dcterms:dateSubmitted "2020-11-30"^^xsd:date ; dcterms:title "The Memoires of Lady Hyegyong."@en , "혜경궁읍혈녹"@ko ; schema:category eadlcollection:NLK_Women_in_the_Joseon_era , eadlcollection:KoreaCollection , eadlcollection:NLK_Women_in_Royal_Palace ; schema:datePublished "2020-11-30"^^xsd:date ; owl:sameAs ; foaf:thumbnail .
