An anthology of poems and writings by Kim, Sam-Eui-Dang(金三宜堂, 1769～1823). It contains 260 poems, 7 prefaces, and 3 funeral orations, and 6 miscellaneous writings. She was from the Gimhae Kim family, in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, and at 18, she married Ha-Wook, a same-age man from her village. Ha made her penname Sam-Eui-Dang.
Regarding her study, she said, “as one of unintelligence women from the Hoenam province, my life was confined to a boudoir and I have not given much exposure to scriptures and history books yet I have studied and appreciated 『Classical Chinese Philology』 in Hanguel version early on, and I could read letters so have extensively read books of many eminent scholars.”(en)
김삼의당(金三宜堂, 1769～1823)의 시(詩)와 글들을 모은 책이다. 시 260수, 편지 5편, 서문(序文) 7편, 제문 3편, 잡문 6편이 실렸다. 삼의당은 본관이 김해이며, 전라북도 남원에서 태어났다. 18살에 같은 마을에 사는 동갑내기 하욱과 혼인했다. ‘삼의당’이라는 당호는 남편이 지어준 것이다.
삼의당은 본인 공부에 대해 “나 또한 호남의 한 어리석은 여성으로 깊은 규방에서 자라 비록 경전과 역사책을 널리 살피지는 못했지만, 일찍이 한글로『소학』을 읽어 뜻을 이해했으며, 문자도 알아서 여러 대가들의 책들을 대략 섭렵했다.”고 밝혔다.
