『Bin Sang Seol』 means ‘gray hair as white as snow’. This represents the protagonist Lee Nan Ok’s hardship. The book shows the acceptance of western culture within a Seoul noble family and the conflict between good patriotic people and evil hypocrite people through a family problem. This is a transitional piece of work from classical to new novel era change. This enlightenment novel which emphasized the modern scinece also counts among Lee Hae Jo’s major works. It was published on Jeguksinmun newspaper from October 5, 1907 to February 12, 1908 as a serial novel.(en)
