Iwasaki Kanen (Name: Jokyo, 1786-1842) distributed 92 volumess of this book(Only 5-96 exist, 1-4 are missing), which was written based on \"Honzouzusetsu\" in Bunka 4 (1807), by reservation. The inital plan was to publish all volumes in wooden type, so the first 4 volumes (5-8) were published in the way in Tenpo 1 (1830). However, he had a hard time to afford the plan and then had to have a 5-year blank period. After then, he changed his plan from wooden type to transcription and water color, and distributed following 4 volumes (9-12) in Tenbo 6. This method has been kept until the very last volume. After Kanen's death in Tenbo 13 (1842), Kanen's son Nobumasa continued the work until Kouka 1 (1844) to the completion. The series includes 2920 plant species, but no animals or minerals. \"Honzouzufu\" has some poor quality information or picture description with some dropped things, but this book, which was distributed by Tayasu family, is overall great in contents. Our library owns the copy that was presented to the Shogun government, and \"Honzouzufuki,\" which is a record of the number of copies distributed. Although Kanen was a low-class officer called Kachi, but Hotta Masaatsu from Wakatoshiryori favored him and provided him with opportunities to write about Botany in \"Kokonyoranko\" or to have a permission to have a facility of Ranen. 이와사키 칸엔(이름은 조쿄, 1786-1842)은 분카 4년 (1807)경에 기필한 『본초도설』을 토대로, 이 책 92책 (5~96권 : 1~4는 존재하지 않음) 을 예약제로 제작/배부했다. 처음에는 전권을 목판본으로 간행할 계획으로, 처음 4권 (5~8권)을 텐포 원년(1830)에 간행하였으나, 비용 조달에 무리가 있어, 5년간의 공백 후, 필사・수채본으로 방침을 바꾸어, 텐보 6년에 이어지는 4권 (9~12권)을 배포했다. 이후에는 완결까지 이 방식을 지속하였고, 텐보 13년 (1842)에 칸엔이 죽은 후에는 아들 노부마사가 대를 이어, 코우카 원년 (1844)에 배포를 완료했다. 전체에서 식물 2920점을 다뤘으나, 동물과 광물은 다루지 않았다. 『본초도보』에는 만듦새가 떨어지거나, 그림의 일부 (가지의 수 등)를 생략한 책도 보이나, 이 자료는 다야스가의 배포본으로, 전체적으로 훌륭하다. 일본 국회도서관에는, 막부 헌상본을 포함하여, 배포의 권수, 일지를 기록한 『본초도보기』(특 1-2972) 도 남아 있다. 칸엔은 막부의 카치라는 낮은 신분이었으나, 와카토시료리(주;에도 막부의 직명) 홋타 마사아츠 (『 관문금보』해설참조)의 눈에 들어, 『코콘요란코(고금요란고) 』의 식물부 집필을 담당하거나, 란엔의 시설을 허가받거나 하는 등, 활동의 장이 주어졌다.
