- Abstract
- Numerous nujeong were built in and around palaces, the Han River, and scenic spots in Seoul, which was the capital of the Joseon Dynasty for 600 years. However, with the exception of those located within palaces, only a few nujeong have been preserved intact up to the present day. Notably, nujeong in Seoul were built by kings, members of the royal family and the aristocratic class, particularly those with a post in the central government. Ancestral records housed at the National Library of Korea showcase images of old nujeong in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do.(en)
조선시대 이래 600년간 수도인 서울에는 궁궐과 한강변, 경승지(景勝地) 주변에 많은 누정이 세워졌다. 그러나 궁궐 내를 제외하고 현재까지 옛 모습이 남아있는 곳은 많지 않다. 서울지역의 누정을 세운 주체는 왕과 왕족이나 양반계층, 특히 중앙관직에 지위를 둔 자가 많은 것이 특징이다. 국립중앙도서관에 소장되어 있는 선인들의 기록을 통해 서울·경기지역에 세운 옛 누정의 모습을 만나본다.(ko)
