- Abstract
- Nujeong of Korea are typically located in densely wooded places where the water is clear. An Chuk (安軸), a scholar of the Goryeo era, highlighted splendid natural scenery with mountains and rivers in the background as ideal geographical conditions as locations to build nujeong, citing that nugak, jeongja and jeongsa (study halls) in the Gwandong (east central) region of Korea are all located in lofty and prominent or quiet and remote places. Proving his point, many extant nujeong across the country, not only the Gwandong region, are situated between a mountain and a river. Ancestral records housed at the National Library of Korea showcase images of old nujeong around the country.(en)
우리나라의 누정은 대개 산수 좋은 곳에 위치해 있는 것이 그 특징이다. 고려시대 안축은 관동의 누대와 정사는 모두 높고 훤칠하거나 그윽하고 깊숙한 곳에 있다고 하여 누정의 입지조건으로 산수를 배경으로 한 승경(勝景)을 꼽고 있다. 관동지역뿐 아니라 전국 각 지역에는 배산임수로 자리 잡고 있는 누정이 많이 남아있다. 국립중앙도서관에 소장되어 있는 선인들의 기록을 통해 전국에 있는 옛 누정의 모습을 만나본다.(ko)
